Hi {Applicant First Name}?! This is {User Full Name} I'm the Human Resource Director with (agency). How's it going today? Ok great I was giving you a call because you had applied to our customer service & sales position on {Source} and my regional director asked me to reach out to you personally to find out a little more about you. I do want to get into some details about what we do here, but first I had a couple of questions for you. Are you working full time right now or are you in between jobs? (Yes) What kind of work are you doing? (let them talk) How long have you been doing that? (let them talk) So would you say you work well with clients on a 1 on 1 basis? Do you have any supervisor or leadership experience? (YOU DON'T HAVE TO ASK ALL OF THESE QUESTIONS MAKE A JUDGMENT CALL ON HOW MUCH THEY SAY AND THEN PROCEED). (No) Okay, no worries! We're actually not looking so much at your experience as we are your personality and willingness to learn new things. So (Name), what would say about your personality, would help you excel in a leadership role? (let them talk, then ask unpacking question) Okay, awesome! Well it does sound like you might be compatible with some of the positions were looking to fill. So what I'm going to do for you is give you a little bit more information about us. Basically since 1951, we have been servicing over 40,000 different labor unions, groups, and associations. Are you familiar with labor unions at all? (If yes, next paragraph) (if no then - Ok so basically what I am talking about is groups like the iron workers, steel workers, electrical workers, etc.) Okay, awesome! So they use us to handle their member's major concerns with their permanent benefits. We're looking to hire some individuals for some key high income positions in sales, customer service, and our leadership development program. So (applicant name) what would you say you're looking to get out of a career moving forward? (If they hesitate, throw some options) Now (applicants name), a lot of times, when we do reach out to somebody personally, they're not always the best fit; so I hope you can appreciate our transparency in telling you we don't want to waste your time or ours. Does that make sense? (wait for agreement) Ok great! We are looking for someone who is hard working, coachable, and has a great attitude. Do you feel like you have ALL of those qualities that were looking for? (If no, get them off the phone, if yes then proceed) Okay great! Well it definitely seems like you might be a good fit for some of the positions were looking to fill. So what I am going to do for you {Applicants First Name}, is make sure we get you set up for the next step of our interview process. That way you can learn everything there is about us and we'll get a chance to learn a little more about you. What's the best email address for you? Great, now my regional director has limited availability but I do see some time in his schedule on (date and time) or (date and time), which one works better for you? Great, so the first step of our interview process is an online company overview webinar. After the overview you'll be redirected to an assessment form to complete. The hiring manager will review the notes I took here along with the assessment you complete and he'll decide which candidates we want to bring back for a final interview, make sense? Great, congratulations on the interview and have a great rest of the day!
Rebuttals / Common Questions
Oh, okay. That's weird. Well' today's your lucky day, because my regional director saw something in your resume that he liked! (roll right back into the script)
Like we talked about earlier, we are looking to fill a few different positions. The company overview and following interview will determine which position is the best fit for you and us. I would just have a notebook and pen with any questions you have. Make sense? (roll right back into your script)
That's actually the next thing I was going to ask you. How do you feel about a hourly position? How do you feel about a commission position? And how do you feel about a salaried position? Okay, I will make a note of that. (Roll back into the script)
